"Quenched Victorian" Regional Finalist of Junk Kouture
This year one of our Transition Year Junk Kouture teams have made it through to the Bank of Ireland Regional Final. Nearly 1300 entries were submitted nationally at the initial stages and we were delighted to receive a visit from James Kavanagh to present Niamh O'Brien and Murron Martin with a much sought after Silver Ticket! Our regional final takes place in The Helix Theatre on Thursday March 2nd.
Niamh O'Brien and Murron Martin designed "Quenched Victorian". They admired the beauty and elegance of Victorian fashion and added bright colours to modernise the design. The underskirt was made out of old wire hangers and wooden floor underlay, and then covered in a cut up old tutu. The team got second hand material from a charity shop and sewed over 2000 bottle tops onto it! The collar was made of lace from an old dress.
